WHERE ARE THE INGREDIENTS DERIVED FROM?
Ref: Pruvit and Dr Ranga Premaratna in Sydney who introduced Keto OS to Joe Keto.
The company process is patented so we cannot know exactly how it’s made, but here is some information on the most common ingredients asked about.
Ketones – BHB – Beta Hydroxybutrate
The major cost of the product is because of BHB.
Starts out with Methyl Acetoacetate and through several processes we get 3-Hydroxybutyric Acid which is then bound with a mineral such a sodium, magnesium, calcium or potassium. Then we end up with DL-3-Hydroxybutyric acid and then it is recrystallised and dried.
Note: the BHB salts are identical to the naturally occuring bhb in the body. Exogenous ketones of beta hydroxybutyrate are available in two forms – Ketone Salts Vs. Ketone Esters:
Ketone Salts:
Naturally-derived compounds that simply mix sodium (and/or potassium, or calcium) with BHB to improve absorption. Commercially available supplements are all made from ketone salts currently (includes KetoForce, KetoCaNa and Keto OS). These are also sometimes called “Ketone Mineral Salts” of “BHB Mineral Salts”.
Ketone Esters:
Synthetically-made compounds that link an alcohol to a ketone body, which is metabolized in the liver to a ketone. Ketone esters are used primarily in research (at the moment) for testing their efficacy in elevating ketone body levels. They also are reportedly very unpleasant tasting, according to these who have experimented with them. So Keto OS is a naturally derived substance.
MCT – Medium Chain Triglycerides
Produced using USP Glycerin, and high-purity Caprylic (C8) and Capric (C10) fatty acids via an esterification process that uses high heat and pressure. They use only high-purity caprylic and capric fatty acids as the raw material fatty acids.
Malic Acid
Derived from Maleic Anhydride. Not corn based.
Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C)
From non-GMO corn.
Chicory Root
Contains inulin, a soluble fiber that feeds digestive flora in the intestines. Many plants contain inulin, but chicory root has the highest concentration. Nourishing the healthy flora in the intestines enhances digestion. Furthermore, since inulin content is not digestible, the lack of glucose can help promote optimal blood sugar levels while also increasing stool bulk and consistency to help elimination.
Flavours
The definition of natural flavor under the Code of Federal Regulations is: “the essential oil, oleoresin, essence or extractive, protein hydrolysate, distillate, or any product of roasting, heating or enzymolysis, which contains the flavoring constituents derived from a spice, fruit or fruit juice.
